Are you an intermediate or advanced hiker who wants to get
to Point Lenana in a limited time? Mt Kenya Sirimon Route
is perfect for you. Sirimon Route is a popular and scenic
trail, offering a diverse landscape and challenging trek
to the summit of Lenana Peak. The trail offers
breathtaking views of Sirimon Gorge, Liki North Valley,
Mackinder's Valley, and stunning views of the surrounding
landscape.
itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi- Sirimon Gate- Old Moses Camp:
We depart Nairobi for Mt Kenya Sirimon Gate at 7:30 a.m.,
where we will have Lunch, gear inspection, briefing, and check
in at the park entrance. Afterward, we begin our 9 km trek to
Old Moses Camp taking 3 hours on a tarmac road. We will have
evening tea, snacks and dinner and sleep early in readiness
for day 2.

Day 2: Old Moses Camp- Shiptons Camp:
After a warm breakfast with stunning views, we will set off on
a 14km trail to Shiptons Camp. The initial ascent leads us
through vast moorlands, rocky outcrops, spongy bogs, and three
river crossings. The trail descends to Mackinder’s Valley,
covered with giant lobelias and groundsels, where we will have
our packed lunch at lunch point. The trail winds to the
opposite side for a steep climb to Shiptons Camp. On a clear
day, be prepared to witness jaw-dropping views of Batian and
Lenana peaks throughout the day.

Day 3: Shiptons Camp- Summit- Nairobi:
The final day presents the most challenging part of the
journey. We will wake up at 2 a.m., have a simple breakfast,
and start our 2.5km slow trek to the summit. We aim to summit
by 6 a.m. to experience the magical African sunrise. After
accomplishing our mission, we descend to Shiptons Camp for
breakfast and a short rest. Later, we embark on a 14 km trek
to Old Moses Camp. With a sense of accomplishment and memories
made, we will board our vehicle and hit the road back to
Nairobi.
