Stunning views!
The Naro Moru to Sirimon route is a classic and beloved
trek for adventurous hikers seeking stunning views, varied
terrain, and a challenging climb to the summit. The trail
starts at the western side and ends at the northwestern
side, also known as the drier side of the mountain.
The trail offers gradual ascents, allowing for better
acclimatization and breathtaking views of Africa’s
second-highest mountain. Enjoy views of Teleki Valley,
Mackinders and Liki Valley, Sirimon Gorge, and the snowy
peaks
itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi-Naromoru Gate-Met Camp:
We will leave Nairobi for Naromoru Gate at 7:30 a.m. to have
lunch, gear check and briefing from our mountain guides. Later
on, we will register at the gate before starting our 9km trek
to Met Camp. We will walk on a tarmac road through the
tropical forest zone and likely see colobus monkeys and
various birds. At the camp, we will have dinner and retire
early.
Day 2:Met Camp-Mackinder’s Camp:
After breakfast, we will start our 10km trek to Mackinder's
Camp. The hike will start with an initial steep ascent on the
tarmac followed by almost vertical bogs on the lower moorland
zone. We will have our packed lunch at lunch point before
proceeding to a steep rocky terrain down to the iconic Teleki
Valley. After that, we cross a wooden bridge and climb steeply
to Mackinder's Camp. We will have dinner and sleep early in
readiness for the summit push.

Day 3: Mackinder's Camp- Point Lenana- Shiptons- Old Moses
Camp:
Summit day! the most demanding part of the hike. We wake up at
2:00 a.m., pack our bags, have breakfast, and start the 4 km
trek to the summit at 2:30 a.m. An early ascent guarantees us
stunning views of the sunrise at dawn from the summit. After a
successful summit, we trek down to Shipton’s Camp. We shall
have brunch and embark on a 14km journey to Old Moses Camp,
where we will spend our last night. We will enjoy breathtaking
views of Liki and Mackinder's Valley and many streams on the
way.

Day 4: Old Moses Camp- Nairobi:
SOn the final day on the mountain, we will have breakfast and
pack our bags. We will have an award ceremony and speeches
from the entire crew. Afterward, we will leave for Nairobi
with a sense of accomplishment and memories made for summiting
the tallest mountain in Kenya.
