A Journey Through Mt Kenya’s Majesty
The Chogoria-Sirimon route is a once-in-a-lifetime
experience for adventurous souls seeking a challenge and
taste of true mountain magic. The traverse is an epic
journey through contrasting landscapes, views, and
experiences. The journey takes us through the most scenic
Mt Kenya route to the gentle Sirimon route. The 4-day
experience through Mt Kenya starts at Chogoria gate and
ends at the Sirimon gate. The journey's highlight is
seeing the beautiful scenery of Mt Kenya, including Nithi
Falls, Mugi Hill, Lake Ellis, Lake Michaelson, Harris
Tarn, Georges Valley, Mackinders Valley, Liki Valley, and
breathtaking views at Point Lenana.
itinerary
Day 1:Nairobi-Chogoria gate-Lake Ellis:
We depart Nairobi for Mt Kenya Chogoria Gate at 5:30 a.m.,
where we will have Lunch and check in before entering the
park. Please have your National IDs either as soft copies or
hard copies. If your bag is more than 18kgs, the porters might
advise on what you can leave behind: pack Compact. After
Lunch, we will go to Lake Ellis, taking a short detour to
Nithi Falls.

Elevation gain: 600 m
Once at the camp, we will experience and explore the beautiful
Lake Ellis. Later on, we will have dinner and retire to sleep
in our tents.
Day 2: Lakes Ellis-Mintos Camp:
We will leave Lake Ellis at 9:00 A.M. after having breakfast
at the camp. The Chef will provide us with packed lunches to
eat at the picnic point on the way. The trek is at a moderate
pace because symptoms of altitude sickness may start showing.
On a clear day, we will see the beautiful Lake Michaelson atop
a cliff on our way. On arrival at Minto's camp, we will have
dinner and go to bed early to wake up at 2:00 A.M for the
summit push.

Day 3: Mintos Camp-Point Lenana-Shiptons Camp-Old Moses
Camp:
Dubbed the most demanding day, we will start hiking at 2:30
am, aiming to summit Point Lenana at 6:30 A.M. We will see
Simba Tarn, Harris Tarn, Square Tarn, Hanging Tarn, and some
glaciers on our way. We will spend about 20 minutes at the
summit soaking in the magical views of the sunrise hitting Mt
Kenya. We will head down to Shipton’s camp and have brunch.
Later, we will trek to our next destination, Old Moses Camp,
where we will spend our last night. On a clear day, we will
see the breathtaking Liki and Mackinders Valley on our way.

Day 4:Exit and Departure for Nairobi:
On the final day on the mountain, we will have breakfast as we
prepare to bid the mountain farewell. We will have an award
ceremony and speeches from the entire crew. Afterwards, we
will leave for Nairobi, overwhelmed by a triumphant mixture of
awe, exhilaration, and profound accomplishment of summiting
the tallest mountain in Kenya and 2nd in Africa.
