Mt Kenya Sirimon in 48 hours

Day 1 : Nairobi-Old Moses-Shiptons
We depart Nairobi for Sirimon gate at 5:30 a.m., where we will do some registration before entering the park. After registration, we will head to Old Moses Camp (3300m asl), where the hike will start.

Elevation Gain: 900m

The 14km trail starts at Old Moses camp(3300m asl), taking us through Liki and Mackinder's Valley and three river crossings. Navigate the moorland dotted with giant Lobelias to Shipton's Camp(4200m asl) under the peaks. On a clear day, be prepared to witness jaw-dropping views of Batian and Lenana peaks throughout the day. We will have our dinner and sleep early in readiness for a summit push at 2:00 a.m.

Day 2 : Shiptons-Point Lenana-Mackinder's Camp -Nairobi
We will wake up at 2 a.m., have a simple breakfast, and start our 2.5km slow trek to the summit. We aim to summit by 6 a.m. to experience the magical African sunrise. After the celebration and taking photos at the summit, we trek down to Mackinders Camp, where we will have breakfast, and have a brief award ceremony. We will trek down to Met Camp, where we board our vehicle and hit the road back to Nairobi.

Gear Checklist

The Mt. Kenya Traverse cancellation policy

• The booking fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to a future program or event.
• The booking deposit can be transferred to a different person 15 days to the hike
• If the cancellation is requested 10 days before the hike, 30% of the cost paid up will be retained. Any excess will be refunded in full.
• If the cancellation is requested 5 days before the Mt Kenya Dash, No refund will be issued.
• No show forfeits the entire amount paid up.
