Forest Bathing
Eburru Forest, located in the outskirts of Naivasha town,
is a prime indigenous forest that overlooks Lake Naivasha
to the South and Lake Elemetatita and Sleeping Warrior to
the North. The forest, also known as Ol Doinyo Eburru, is
untamed and has swinging monkeys on the canopy, singing
birds, vibrant butterflies fitting in the path, and
stinging nettles. As you ascend the terrain transforms
into steep valleys, hidden waterfalls, bamboo stalks, and
springs. The forest is nestled within a geologically
active volcanic mountain, whose highest peak stands at
2856m.
The journey starts at the Eburru Gate with a
gentle trek through the forest to the Western Summit Trail
starting point for 5km. The rest of the trek is moderate
to hard through the thick forest vegetation into the
bamboo-section and the beautiful summit. After summitting,
enjoy the natural sauna 1km before the gate.
