Mt Ololokwe, also known as Ol Donyo Sabache by the locals, is a stunning flat-topped mountain in northern Kenya. It towers over the surrounding semi-arid plains at approximately 2000m asl, offering breathtaking views and a challenging hike for adventurous souls. The 2-day Samburu expedition will involve hiking in Mt Ololokwe, game drive in Samburu National Reserve, and swimming in Buffalo Springs.

Day 1; Nairobi-buffalo springs-sabache camp:

We will leave Nairobi for Samburu at 5:00 a.m. We are expected to arrive by 12:00 p.m., making stops in Sagana and Nanyuki. We will visit Samburu National Reserve for a short game drive and swim in Buffalo Springs in the afternoon. We finish our day at the Sabache Camp, where we will have dinner and sleep in tented camps. We will wake up early the next day to hike to avoid the heat.

Day 2: Hike Mt Ololokwe- Nairobi

We will wake up at 2:30 a.m. to prepare for the hike and start at 3:00 a.m. hoping to see the sunrise. The hike is 13.7km and typically takes 2-3 hours to summit. The trail is mostly rocky and steep, but some sections have loose sand and gravel. On the summit, we will see Samburu Plains, Namunyak Conservancy, and Mount Kenya views. After the hike, we will have breakfast at Sabache Camp, pack our bags, have lunch then leave for Nairobi.

Cancellation policy
  • Canceling 10 days or more before the trip, the full amount will be refunded.
  • If a member cancels 3 to 5 days before the trip, 50% of the booking deposit will be issued. Any excess on the booking deposit will be refunded in full.
  • If a member cancels within 3 days of the trip, no refund will be done.
  • The booking deposit is transferable more than 5 days before the expedition to a future event or a different person booking the same event.
  • The booking deposit is non-transferable to a future event 5 days or less before the expedition.
  • No-shows forfeit entire payments.
